Investigators have seized books on demons and atheism as well as rifles and knives from in a home linked to one of the men charged with setting an east Texas church on fire and suspected in a string of similar blazes.

In reality he had 1 atheist book about living a moral life without Jesus and all...No clue if he was an atheist but if he was he probably should have paid more attention to it.

Uhm, to give any credence to demonic entities, possession, anything - you have to be a devoutly Christian person.
And to be atheist, actually atheist as opposed to throwing the label around for status purposes, don't you have to eschew religious frippery like demons?
And if you want to be moral and life-affirming, as does Maisel on his back cover blurbs, and presumably anyone who reads his book, doens't that nix the idea of arson?
I pronounce these "stories" to be attention grabbers, waving a straw atheist about, and abusing key "clutch the pearls" words like "demon" and "marijuana".
The presence of "odd" books on their own mean nothing. Many times they're casual reading, props, or indicative of a passing whim. The pot's the least of their troubles, too. Go nuts about meth or coke or something - that's walkin' around substances.
As for the graffiti, yes - pay attention to that. Pay attention to all sorts of things. Use the books and the crap in his place as *clues*, fucking *clues*, not a direct cause of his evil. Don't abuse them to increase your site meters, for pete's sake.
What gets me is that it wasn't apparently HIS house. It was a house Linked to him. So AP is going even further to draw this causal connection (or the police are for bothering to mention it). Actually, this might be a cynical ploy by the police to taint the jury pool against him. If he had a good lawyer they'd bitch about it.
